Mail Box
It is hard to find mail box in my city, the quantity of mail box decrease more and more from about ten years ago till now. Nowadays mail box can only found in front of Post Office (like the picture above) and maybe someday the mail box only used as monument, because people prefer to use e-mail, SMS, cell phone or telephone when to be in communication with other. What do you think?

Comments for Mail Box
tats not the case in finland. we still have a number of mailboxes located in popular spots like shopping centres, libraries, train stations and more..

What a great post box, would be a shame if they all disappeared. Some things you can't do via email, so surely they can't all go?! I hope not.

Hopefully postal mail will still be used for a while yet since there are some people who do not use computers.

This was an unexpected "think that is about to disappear soon" - very interesting.

Really interesting comments. In Sydney we have lots of mailboxes - in suburban streets (I have two no more than 500m from my house), and mail vans clear them every day around 6pm to take the letters to sorting centres.

There's nothign like getting a letter - not abill! - in the post :-)

very surprising, though you're right electronic mail is ravaging snail mail.

good one and sad to see it disappear.

good choice indeed! hey, I'm late to join, but I participate anyway! hehe...

Not only mailboxes but snail mail (except junk mail) is slowly disappearing.

Hi Bunyamin, first blog I manage to visit. Good choice. Oh, I will contact you when I'm back in Bandung.

I think your comment about the mail box being "used as monument" may come true ... Very good choice.

Yeah, we don't write often any more, but I hate the thought of never receiving letters or cards. Do you think it'll completely disappear?

Well, I get alot of mail, because I buy things on ebay and other online ways! At the momnent I'm colecting postcards....

Wow, I hadn't thought about that one as a choice of photos for theme day. Great idea. Hopefully people will still write letters from time to time (although I never do).

Same in our city, disappearing all the time.

Nice photo, I hope the mail does not disappear soon. We can spend about 1 US dollar to send a letter around the world and I think that is a great service.

Great photo, and interesting that these are becoming harder to find. I guess it saves labor if the postal carriers don't have to collect from remote boxes. But, certainly not convenient for those wishing to post near by. Can you leave letters at your own home mail box for the postal carrier to collect?

BTW, I see you, like I, copied your list of participants yesterday when Ham sent out the notice. Since then 11 more people have signed up to participate today. I had to go back to the forum page and copy the updated list to include the last minute sign-up folks, then repost my blog.

I hope PT. Pos Indonesia (Indonesia state-owned Postal Company)will find a good solution to make people using their services more.

our post box are red too. And rare to find them on the streets anymore:(

The postboxes in Singapore are now stainless steel. Used to be white. Nice photo of a mailbox.

I hope these boxes don't disappear (or handwritten mail, either!)
